YELLOW FEVER: 
AN INFECTION IMPORTED FROM SURINAME INTO THE NETHERLANDS

Further to our Fax Alert communication of February 24, 2000 in which we informed you of the occurrence of a laboratory confirmed, imported case of yellow fever infection notified by the national health authorities of the Netherlands, we wish to update you of the following:

We are in receipt of a communication, dated March 23, 2000, from the Inspector of Infectious Diseases in the Netherlands [STAATSTOEZICHT OP DE VOLKSGEZONDHEID, Inspectie voor de Gezondheidszorg], to the WHO European Regional Officer for Communicable Diseases. This letter indicates that the Dutch health authorities have " officially annulled their notification of a yellow fever" on the basis of additional investigations undertaken by them.
