Later Adulthood

 

One in every four persons in this age-group will be hypertensive i.e. 550,000

Hypertension and other cerebrovascular disease will occasion 30,000 hospital stays, (with an average stay of 10 days), and 60,000 contacts with primary health care  each year.

 

One in every six persons aged 45 years or more will be diabetic i.e. >350,000 persons

Diabetes will account for 6000 hospital visits per year, (with an average stay of 15 days), and 150,000 contacts with primary health care
